SEATTLE (Waste 360): A newly proposed City Council ordinance in Chicago would force restaurants to eliminate foam packaging and reduce disposable products, such as utensils, straws, beverage tops, napkins, stirrers and more.
Under the ordinance, which would begin in 2021, restaurants would be able to serve disposable itemsonly upon request from customers or at self-service stations, NBC Chicago reports. The ordinance would allow restaurants to provide disposable foodware if it is compostable or recyclable.
