Cedar Rapids, IA Seeks Artist Proposals for Garbage and Recycling Collection Trucks

SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): The City of Cedar Rapids is seeking artists/artist teams to transform garbage and recycling collection trucks into vibrant, rolling works of art.  Proposals are sought for designs that can be reproduced as vinyl wraps and applied to five garbage and recycling collection trucks in Cedar Rapids. This opportunity is open to visual artists, illustrators, designers, and otherwise creative individuals working in any medium, as long as the final artwork can be translated and digitally reproduced on a horizontal vinyl wrap.

The theme of the art project is sustainable neighborhoods, inspired by the City’s Community Climate Action Plan:

•          Local food
•          Urban forestry
•          Neighbors supporting neighbors following a natural disaster
•          Actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
•          Building resilience in our neighborhoods from floods and extreme heat
•          Beautifying our neighborhoods and reducing waste
•          Social equity and celebration of the diversity of our community

Submissions must be received by 3:00 p.m. CDT, February 1, 2024.
