SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Cascades, Inc.- a leading producer, convertor and marketer of packaging and tissue products has announced official inauguration of its new packaging plant facility in Piscataway, New Jersey. The official opening of the state-of-the-art containerboard packaging plant was attended by elected government officials, Cascades partners, clients, suppliers, employees and members of the community.

The company had invested $76 million in the 450,000 square foot plant. The production capacity of the plant is estimated at around 2.4 billion square feet of corrugated packaging per annum. It employs 170 people and is expected to help the company boost its planned integration of production facilities.

Cascades President and Chief Executive Officer, Mario Plourde stated that the investment highlights the company’s commitment to modernize its asset base and consolidate its containerboard and packaging activities in the Northeastern U.S. The strategic location of the new facility will further strengthen the company’s U.S. growth strategy. The project was delivered on time and within the budget, Plourde noted.

Meantime, Charles Malo , President and Chief Operating Officer of Cascades Containerboard Packaging noted that the cutting-edge technology at the plant has added significantly to its global production capacity. The new facility will serve both traditional markets and e-commerce markets that require lighter packaging, he added. He thanked the partners and company employees, Middlesex County and Piscataway municipality for their continued support and help.
