Boise Cascade to Acquire Coastal Plywood Operations

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Boise Cascade Company announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire Coastal Plywood Company from Coastal Forest Resources Company for $512 million. The transaction is subject to certain closing adjustments. Boise Cascade plans to fund the transaction and closing-related expenses from its existing cash balances.

Coastal Plywood Company operates two manufacturing facilities in Havana, Florida, and Chapman, Alabama, which together employ approximately 750 people. It provides quality plywood, lumber, and treated wood products throughout the eastern U.S.

Nate Jorgensen, CEO, Boise Cascade noted that the acquisition will incrementally expand its veneer capacity. In the near term, it will help the company to optimize its existing engineered wood products (EWP) asset base. The company intends to invest $50 million into its Southeast operations over a three-year period to further our EWP production capacity, he added.

Meantime, Travis Bryant, CEO of Coastal Forest Resources Company said that the transaction represents an opportunity for its talented and dedicated employees to join a dynamic organization, offering them a secure future with great opportunities ahead.
