Blue Planet's Fresh Acquisition to Help Tackle Asia's Mounting E-Waste Crisis

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Singapore-headquartered Blue Planet Environmental Solutions Pte. Ltd. announced acquisition of Smart Creative Technologies Ltd. - a leading British e-waste technology company based in Liverpool, UK. The strategic acquisition is expected to boost Blue Planet’s ongoing efforts to tackle growing e-waste crisis in the Asian region and significantly expand its technological capability.

According to estimates, Asian countries currently account for almost 40% of the e-waste generated by world countries. Surprisingly, only 15% of the region’s e-waste is collected and recycled. Much of the e-waste handling is carried out by informal players, who employ primitive techniques to deal with e-waste, thereby risking release of toxic chemicals that could pose threat to environment as well as human life.

To counter the unsafe and unethical e-waste recycling practices followed in Asian countries, Smart Creative Technologies have developed an innovative method that recovers 99% of all materials by using non-hazardous chemicals. The use of ultrasound ensures speedy recovery when compared to traditional methods. The Blue Planet’s acquisition of the company will lead to faster rollout of this technology to countries in Asia.
