According to BAN, the deadline for all inputs on the DRAFT 4.0 Version of the e-Stewards Standard will be January 26th, 2020 by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.

BAN Seeks Public Comment on New e-Stewards Standard

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The e-Stewards certification body is seeking public comment on the changes proposed to the certification standard. A draft update to the e-Stewards certification standard was released on January 6th, by incorporating the changes, further to the first comment period which ended last month. The all public comment period will be open till January 26th, 2020. Incidentally, the e-Stewards certification standard is maintained by the Basel Action Network (BAN).

According to BAN, the deadline for all inputs on the DRAFT 4.0 Version of the e-Stewards Standard will be January 26th, 2020 by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Upon submitting input online, the submitter will receive an email confirming the receipt of the comments. Only one input form per company/agency will be accepted. However, public can submit comments in multiple sessions until the deadline. After considering the comments, BAN proposes to release the final version of the e-Stewards standard by February 2020.

Meantime, BAN announced that out of 10 surprise performance verification visits conducted at e-Stewards certified facilities during 2019, 8 companies were found conforming to standards. From the remaining two companies, one has already regained certification after fixing non-conformities, whereas the certification of the other is still under review. Also, all 10 GPS trackers deployed at recycling facilities suggested that there were no shipment of tracked devices to non-certified recycling locations.
