SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Arcelor Mittal- the world’s leading steel and mining company announced that Kleber Silva has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of ArcelorMittal Mining, effective 08 April 2024. He will report to Aditya Mittal, Chief Executive Officer and will also be a member of the Group Management Committee.
The appointment comes as Stefan Buys, who has been the CEO since October 2021, is leaving the company by end-March this year, in order to pursue other opportunities. The company, in a news release, thanked Stefan for his significant contribution to the company, especially in advancing its mining business in Liberia and Canada.

Kleber is rejoining ArcelorMittal after a gap of almost seven years. Earlier in 2017, he had left the group to join Eramet as deputy chief executive officer and chief operating officer responsible for mining and metals. He began his career at MBR and Vale in 1998. He has an extensive experience of over 35 years in mining and metal industries.
Kleber holds a master’s degree from the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Mines de Paris, France. He is also a mining engineer from Escola de Minas da Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto, UFOP.
Kleber said that he looks forward to the challenge of returning to ArcelorMittal as CEO of its mining business. Furthermore, he expressed his excitement in collaborating with the team in implementing the company’s ambitious growth plans.
