AptarGroup Join Hands with Global Effort to Fight Plastic Waste

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): U.S.-based packaging solutions provider AptarGroup has signed the New Plastics Economy- the global commitment introduced by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to fight jointly to tackle plastic pollution across the world. The company, by joining hands with other businesses and governments, has committed to reduce its plastic footprint and promote the reuse and recycling of plastic products.

Commenting on the development, Stephan Tanda, President and CEO, AptarGroup stated that the signing of the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment has further reinforced the company’s pledge to reduce its environmental footprint by supporting Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s vision for a circular economy. The company looks forward to partner with its peers in packaging industry to bring forth substantial changes to plastics manufacturing, its reuse and recycling, Tanda added.

The company has been involved in efforts to replace standard fossil-based resins with sustainable alternatives over the past several years. It has evaluated and tested a number of sustainable resins, capable of reducing environmental impacts. In order to boost sustainable product offerings, it had recently launched a Sustainable Materials Task Force.

Crystal Lake, Illinois-headquartered AptarGroup is a leading supplier of a broad range of innovative dispensing, sealing and active packaging solutions. It employs around 13,000 people across its worldwide network of facilities spread across 18 different countries.
