Aluminum Scrap Prices: Weekly Report for 1st December, 2022

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):The weekly price trends of scrap aluminium across worldwide markets for the past week (25th November, 2022 to 1st December, 2022) on the Scrap Monster Price Index are provided below:

North America Prices

Aluminum Radiators recorded biggest jump in prices over the week, edging higher from $0.37 per Lb to $0.50 per Lb. The prices of Aluminum Transformers and E.C. Aluminum Wire too surged higher significantly by 4.55% and 4.31%.

The prices of Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators /Fe and Mixed Aluminum Turnings too recorded marginal increase over the week.

USA East Coast Prices

Aluminum Radiators prices recorded biggest increase over the week, registering surge from $0.37 per Lb to $0.39 per Lb. A notable weekly surge by 4.55% and 4.31% was seen in Aluminum Transformers and E.C. Aluminum Wire prices.

The scrap aluminium categories that recorded nominal increase in prices included Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Al/Cu Radiators /Fe, Al/Cu Radiators, Litho Sheets, 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap and 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean).

USA Midwest Prices

The aluminium scrap prices in the region mostly edged higher over the previous week. The top three gainers were Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Transformers and E.C. Aluminum Wires. The Aluminum Radiators prices ended the week at $0.38 per Lb, up from the previous week price of $0.36 per Lb. Also, the week witnessed surge in prices of Aluminum Transformers and E.C. Aluminum Wires to $0.22 per Lb and $1.21 per Lb respectively.

USA West Coast Prices

The aluminium scrap metal prices in the region remained strong, with prices of most categories recording week-on-week increase.

The scrap category to soar the most was Aluminum Radiators, whose prices recorded surge from $0.37 per Lb to $0.39 per Lb. It was followed by Aluminum Transformers and E.C. Aluminum Wires, which recorded price increases by 4.35% and 4.31% respectively.

Meantime, prices of Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Al/Cu Radiators /Fe and Al/Cu Radiators ended the week with minor changes, over the week.

China Prices

Old Cast and Old Sheet prices gained the most during the previous week, rising from CNY 16,500 per MT to CNY 16,800 per MT each.

Also, the chart given below provides weekly price movement of Old Sheet scrap.

6063 Extrusions recorded a jump in price by CNY 300 per MT, from CNY 16,600 per MT during the start of the week to end the week at $16,900 per MT.  E.C. Aluminum Wire too reported 1.69% surge in prices over the week.

All other scrap, including Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Transformers, Zorba 90% NF and Aluminum Ingots continued to stay on the rise.

 

India Prices

The Aluminum ingots prices edged higher from INR 205,000 per ton during the start of the week to INR 208,000 per ton on 1st December, 2022. A similar rise by INR 3,000 per ton was recorded in Aluminum utensil scrap prices over the week, whose price chart is as follows:

 

Europe Prices

The prices of all aluminium scrap categories (Aluminum Cuttings, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast and UBC) held steady during the week.

 

 LME Aluminum Market Update

Meantime, the closing price of LME Aluminum 3-Month contract stood at USD 2,460.50 per tonne as on 1st December, 2022. The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract surged higher from $2,387 a day before to $2,430.50 per tonne.

The LME Aluminum stocks declined over the previous day to close at 499,150 tonnes on 1st December, 2022, as compared with 501,225 tonnes on 30th November, 2022.
