Alliance to End Plastic Waste Declares Jacob Duer as Inaugural President and CEO

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW) announced appointment of Jacob Duer as its inaugural President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He will join the non-profit effective October 1, 2019.

Duer is expected to advance the non-profit’s mission to develop, deploy, and bring to scale solutions that will minimize and manage plastic waste and promote solutions for used plastics. This includes projects that promote plastic reuse, recovery, and recycling, so as to keep plastics out of the environment.

Commenting after his appointment to the top post, Duer said that the Alliance will work together with all stakeholders to play a lead role in driving sustainable solutions for the future and promoting environmental sustainability. Also, Duer noted that he is honored to lead the Alliance as a unique solution model to address plastic waste.

David Taylor, Chairman of the AEPW hoped that Duer’s demonstrated leadership, passion for promoting sustainability, and track record of building solution-oriented multilateral partnerships will steer AEPW to next phase of growth.

Jacob Duer most recently served as the Director of the Chemicals and Health Branch of the UN Environment Programme. He has over 20 years of vast experience with the United Nations with focus on the environment and sustainable development, leading various projects in several countries including Austria, Senegal, Kenya and Switzerland.

The AEPW is a not-for-profit organization that works to bring together industry, government, communities, and civil society in the fight to end plastic waste.
