SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Customs Department officials at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSI) have booked two separate gold smuggling incidents in the morning hours yesterday. A total of approximately four kilograms of gold worth nearly INR 2.55 crores.
In the first incident, gold weighing nearly 3.497 Kg was found concealed in a coffee machine. The officials, upon finding the product abnormally heavy, decided to break it. Upon cutting and breaking the coffee machine, the officials found two cylindrical gold bars inside it. The passenger, who arrived from Dubai, was arrested.

In the second incident on the same day, a passenger from Sharjah via Flight no 6E1424 was intercepted based on inputs and suspicion. Upon checking, 554 grams of gold were recovered from his rectum.
According to official press release by the Lucknow International Airport Customs Department, two separate cases have been booked at the airport at 5 AM, in which a total of 4.05 kilograms of gold worth INR 2.55 Cr were seized. Further investigations are in progress, the officials stated.
The Customs Department has reportedly detained more than 100 passengers and seized around 255 kilograms of smuggled gold over the past five years.
