North Little Rock Asking for the Public’s Help in Catching Copper Wire Thieves
A city spokesperson said the methods the thieves are using to gather the wire were “very unsafe.”
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The city of North Little Rock is asking for the public’s help in catching copper thieves.
A Thursday release from the city said it is currently offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the thieves’ arrest. Officials said copper thefts have already caused thousands of dollars in damage, predominantly in the downtown area.
Officials said the damage comes from thieves stealing what amounts to “a few dollars worth of copper,” as thieves were stealing mostly from street lights in the downtown area.
A city spokesperson said the methods the thieves are using to gather the wire were “very unsafe.”
Areas already targeted include Dickey Stephens Park, the RV Park at Burns Park, Riverfront Drive behind the seawall, 4th and Palm Street, 7th and Cedar Street and Washington Ave & Main Street.
Anyone with information is asked to call the North Little Rock Police tip line at 501-680-0439.
