US and Canadian aluminum shipments during May this year declined year-on-year

The latest released statistics indicate that the aluminum shipments from the US and Canada declined during May this year in comparison with May 2012

WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster) : The latest released statistics indicate that the aluminum shipments from the US and Canada  declined during May this year in comparison with May 2012.

According to data released Tuesday by Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI), the country’s total aluminum shipments from various service centers in May this year totaled 132,400 mt, which is 2.7% lower than the shipments recorded during same month the previous year.

The total aluminum shipments from the US during the first five months of the year 2013 amounted to 617,200 million mt. The shipments during this period are lower by 7.1% in comparison with the shipments during the same period in 2012.

As per MSCI data, the total aluminum products shipment by Canada through various service centers amounted to 14,500 mt during the month of May. This is 0.5% lower when compared to the shipments during May 2012.

The total aluminum shipments from Canada during the first five months of the year 2013 amounted to 67,000 million mt. The shipments during this period are lower by 4.1% in comparison with the shipments during the same period in 2012.
