US Steel shipments showed marginal rise in April : AISI

The latest data released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) indicates that the shipments from US steel mills marginally increased during the month of April
WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster) : The latest data released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) indicates that the shipments from US steel mills marginally increased during the month of April.
According to AISI data, the total shipment by US steel mills during April 2013 was 7,978,531 net tons. The April ’13 shipments have slightly improved in comparison with the total shipments during the previous month. The total shipments during the month of March were 7,922,265 net tons. The total shipments have shown a month-on-month rise of 0.7%. Year-on-year, the steel mill shipments during April has declined by 3.2%. The total steel mills shipments during April 2012 were 8,245,399 net tons.
The cumulative steel shipments during the first four months of the year 2013 totaled 31,547,910 net tons. The total shipments during the period have declined by 6.3% when compared to the shipments by US steel mills during the period from January to April, the previous year.
The April 2013 shipments of cold rolled sheet and hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip saw rise in volumes. The total CR sheet shipments jumped 10% when compared to March. There was a 5% rise month-on-month in the total shipment of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip during April this year. However the total shipment of hot-rolled sheet dropped by 4% month-on-month.
