CIS April crude steel production down by nearly 7% year-on-year

According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (WSA), the crude steel production by Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) dropped by 7% during the month of April year-on-year
MOSCOW (Scrap Monster) : According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (WSA), the crude steel production by Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) dropped by 7% during the month of April year-on-year. At the same time, global crude steel production for 63 member countries in April this year was 132 million tonnes (Mt), 1.2% higher than the production during same month the previous year.
The total crude steel production by Byelorussia during April was 225,000 tonnes, lower than the April 2012 production of 235,000 tonnes. Kazakhstan produced 285,000 tonnes of crude steel, lesser when compared to 371,000 tonnes production achieved during April 2012. The Moldovan steel output dropped to nil from 54,000 tonnes during same month last year.The total crude steel production by Russia also dropped by 4.3% from 5.844 Million tonnes in April 2012 to 5.591 Million tonnes this April.
Ukraine’s total crude steel output was down 8.4% to 2.748 Million tonnes in April 2013 when compared to the output of 3 Million tonnes during April last year. Uzbekistan also witnessed cut in production during the month. Uzbekistan’s crude steel output fell 8.8% from 66,000 tonnes in April 2012 to 60,000 tonnes in the same month this year.
