Japan's stainless steel products output rises during March

The latest data released by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) indicates that the country's output of stainless steel products increased during the month of March this year

TOKYO (Scrap Monster) : The latest data released by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) indicates that the country’s output of stainless steel products increased during the month of March this year.

According to METI, Japan’s total output of stainless steel products during the month of March was 238,986 tons. This is 7.2% higher than the output a month ago. The country’s total stainless steel product output during February was 222,935 tons.

Out of the 238,986 tons, chromium-based stainless steel contributed 105,733 tons, nearly 44% of the total output. The monthly output of chromium-based stainless steel products grew by 6.6% in comparison with the output a month ago.

Nickel-based stainless steel products constituted the balance 133,253 tons, almost 56% of the total stainless steel output. The monthly output of nickel-based stainless steel products grew by 7.6% in comparison with the output a month ago.

The country’s stock of stainless steel products reached 112,706 tons during March. The stock held by steel producers has dropped by 10.6% from the previous month.
