Ukraine's crude steel output down by 4.3% in April

The Ukraine Cabinet of Ministers has released statistics of country's production during the initial four months of the year.
KIEV (Scrap Monster) : The Ukraine Cabinet of Ministers has released statistics of country’s production during the initial four months of the year. The data reveals that the crude steel ouput of the country fell by 4.3% during the month of April.
The total crude steel production by the country during April this year was 2.748 million mt, down by 4.3% compared to previous month. The finished steel product output also dropped by 2% month-on-month to 2.257 million mt. The metallurgical coke output for the month slipped to 1.447 million mt, decreasing 4.8% in comparison with March 2013.
However, the cumulative finished steel output of the country during the period from January to April recorded a 2.5% growth in comparison with the output during same period the previous year to reach 9.280 million mt. The crude steel output during the same period dropped by 0.6% to 11.058 million mt when compared to the initial four months of 2012. The pig iron output rose 0.7% year-on-year to 9.670 million mt. The metallurgical coke output went down by 9.2% year-on-year to touch 5.879 million mt.
In the January-April period this year, Ukraine produced 22.877 million mt of iron ore concentrate and 7.528 million mt of iron ore pellets - up 3.3 percent and one percent respectively compared to the same period last year.
