Steel production in Great Lakes region rises, says AISI report

As per the latest statistics released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the Great Lakes and North Eastern region steel production has risen considerably week-on-week

NEW YORK (Scrap Monster) : As per the latest statistics released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the Great Lakes and North Eastern region steel production has risen considerably week-on-week.

The data released by AISI shows that the capacity utilization improved last week in comparison to the week prior to it. The capacity utilization during the week ended 4th May was 78.6%, which is higher than the 77.9% recorded during the week ended April 27th.

The steel production in the Great Lakes and Northeast region increased during the week, whereas the production in Southern, Western and Midwest region slipped.

The steel production in the Great Lakes region during the week was 657,000 st, which is 6.3% higher compared to the previous week. The steel production in the region during the previous week was 618,000 st.

The steel production in the Northeast region during the week was 203,000 st, which is 5.7% higher compared to the previous week. The steel production in the region during the previous week was 192,000 st.

The steel production in the Southern region during the week was 672,000 st, which is 4.3% lower compared to the previous week. The steel production in the region during the previous week was 702,000 st.

The steel production in the Western region during the week was 90,000 st, which is 1.1% lower compared to the previous week. The steel production in the region during the previous week was 91,000 st.

The steel production in the MIdwest region during the week was 262,000 st, which is 0.4% lower compared to the previous week. The steel production in the region during the previous week was 263,000 st.
