Japanese stainless steel flat exports up 27.3% in March

According to the recent statistics released by the Japanese Ministry of Finance, the export of stainless steel flat products of the country have gone up significantly during the month of March
TOKYO (Scrap Monster) : According to the recent statistics released by the Japanese Ministry of Finance, the export of stainless steel flat products of the country have gone up significantly during the month of March.
The country’s total export of stainless steel flat products during March was 72,570 tons. The total exports have surged 27.3% when compared to the exports a month before. However the exports are down by 16.1% in comparison to those during same month a year ago.
The total exports during the initial three months of the year totaled 182,956 tons. The exports have declined by 10.8% in comparison with the same period the previous year.
The country’s primary export destination during the first quarter was Korea. Korea imported 46,359 tons of stainless steel flat products from Japan. The imports by Korea witnessed a drop of 3.8% year-on-year.
The second largest importer of stainless steel flats from Japan was Taiwan. The total exports from Japan to Taiwan amounted to 31,392 tons. The exports to Taiwan fell by 14.8% when compared to the exports during the first quarter in 2012.
