BOSTON (Scrap Monster) : The city of Boston is to showcase a special household e-Waste collection event on Saturday, March 23 from 9 AM to 2 PM. Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino has urged all area residents to recycle household electronic waste at no charge.
The event organized by the Boston Public Works Department in association with Samsung and Electronic Recyclers International (ERI) will take place at the West Roxbury Public Works Yard on 315 Gardner Street in West Roxbury near Millennium Park.
The public event is being organized to provide an opportunity for the community to safely drop off their old electronic devices including televisions, monitors, computers, laptops, tablets, cell phones, printers, fax machines, keyboards, mice, stereo equipment, servers, telecom equipment, DVD players and copy machines.
Electronics collected at the site will be shifted to the recycling facilities of ERI, where they will be dissembled and recycled in the safest and most hygienic manner using the most technologically advanced e-Waste shredding systems following the best environmental practices.
Holliston-based ERI, the largest electronic waste recycler in the United States recycles over 170 million pounds of e-Waste annually. It has recycling eight facilities in seven locations- California, Colorado, Indiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Texas and Washington.ERI is the world’s first e-waste recycler to receive dual R2 certification and be certified to the Basel Action Network's e-Stewards Standard for Responsible Recycling and Reuse of Electronic Equipment.
