US H1 scrap prices rise sharply during the week

The average price of US H1 scrap is reported to have jumped significantly.

NEW YORK (Scrap Monster) : The average price of US H1 scrap is reported to have jumped significantly.

The average price in Pittsburgh, Chicago and Philadelphia were at US $ 372.50/ long ton as on March 11th. The prices are seen significantly higher when compared to the prices during the previous week.

The average H1 scrap prices in Pittsburgh has soared by US$ 30/ long ton to touch US$369.5/long ton. The average prices in Chicago were at US$384.50/long ton, rising by US$36/long ton. In Philadelphia the average prices were at US$363.5/long ton, increasing by US$10/long ton. The increase in prices is based on the prices a week earlier.

The average H1 scrap elsewhere in New York, Boston and Houston were US$ 316.17/ long ton, marking a rise of US$ 5 per long ton from the prices a week ago.

Meanwhile, as a matter of fact, readers are requested to note that the exports of US H1 scrap fell during the year 2012 by 9.2% when compared to the previous year.
