According to the import statistics released recently, the Turkish imports of scrap from European Union countries have declined month-on-month in January 2013.

ANKARA (Scrap Monster) : According to the import statistics released recently, the Turkish imports of scrap from European Union countries have declined month-on-month in January 2013.

According to statistics, the net scrap imports of Turkey totaled 1.5 million tons in January, declining by 15.55% from a month ago.

In January, Turkey’s scrap imports from the EU totaled 800,000 tons, falling by 19.4%. from the previous month

The scrap imports from the US were at 517,786 tons, soaring by 34.2%, compared to the previous month.

The country’s import revenues generated by scraps during January 2013 were at US$596 million, rising by 9% year on year. The average import prices were at US$394/ton, falling by US$40/ton in comparison of US$433/ton in the same period of a year ago.

The total scrap imports from EU -27 countries to Turkey during the year 2012 were 11.05 million tons. The yearly imports rose by 10.7% compared to 2011.
