Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports advanced 20% year-on-year to 146,852 metric tons (mt) in August this year, and declined 4% month-on-month, as per the latest data released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS).
ISLAMABAD (Scrap Monster): Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports advanced 20% year-on-year to 146,852 metric tons (mt) in August this year, and declined 4% month-on-month, as per the latest data released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS).
According to the data, the value of the iron and steel scrap imports was $55.1 million in August, declined 10.2% month-on-month and up 35.7% year-on-year.
Pakistan's scrap imports in the July-August 2012 period amounted to 299,378 mt, advanced 1.4% year-on-year. In the period in question, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports was $116.6 million, rose 18.3% year-on-year.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's iron and steel imports in August amounted to 123,350 mt, decreased by 16.5% year-on-year and up 21.1% month-on-month.
The country's iron and steel imports in the July-August 2012 period totaled 225,225 mt, declined by 16.7% year-on-year. In the period in question, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel imports was $200.5 million, declined 5.6% year-on-year.
