EU Steel exports declines 11% m-o-m in July: Eurofer

European Union's (EU) overall steel exports reached 2.182 million metric tons (mt) in July, declined 11% month-on-month and rose by 3.75% year-on-year, as per the latest data released the European Steel Association (Eurofer).

BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): European Union's (EU) overall steel exports reached 2.182 million metric tons (mt) in July, declined 11% month-on-month and rose by 3.75% year-on-year, as per the latest data released the European Steel Association (Eurofer).

In July this year flat steel exports from the European Union totaled 1.302 million mt and long steel exports reached 879,000 mt.

Steel export activity in July decreased on month-on-month basis despite the favourable trend of euro-dollar exchange rate.

For the first seven months this year, EU steel export figures are as follows:

• U.S. Steel pledges up to $2.5 billion in upgrades to Mon Valley Works
• China’s rolled steel exports fell by 8.1% y/y a five-month period
• China’s May unwrought copper imports slip 1.33% m/m
• Tata Steel says new £1.25bn furnace may be delayed due to electrical issue
