Peru Copper production rise 9.41% in June Y-oY

Peru has reported growth in zinc and copper production in June at above 9% compared to same month previous year as miners ramped up production

LIMA (Scrap Monster): Peru has reported 9.41% year-on-year in June 2012 to 111.133 fine metric tonnes. 

According to information provided by the Directorate of Mining Promotion of the Mining Department, the result in the case of copper is due to the rise in the production of Compania Minera Antamina (52.80%), Mining Raura (38.50%) and Milpo (32.64%), while Sociedad Minera El Brocal and Xstrata Tintaya recorded a decrease of 72.70% and 57.42%, compared with last year's results for the same period.

Zinc production was 114.909 fine metric tonnes, higher than the 9.95% in June 2011 (104.512 TMF).

This is due mainly to the rise reported that San Ignacio de Morococha (185.69%), while Minera Casapalca had a decrease of 31.43%.The cumulative production of zinc is 644.182 TMF, lower by 2.29% than the same period of 2011 (659.299 TMF)
