Turkey ferroalloy imports rise 72.7% Y-o-Y in April: TUIK

Turkey's ferroalloy imports rose 54.6% month-on-month to 42,629 metric tons (mt) in April and up 72.7% year-on-year, as per the latest data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

ANKARA (Scrap Monster): Turkey's ferroalloy imports rose 54.6% month-on-month to 42,629 metric tons (mt) in April and up 72.7% year-on-year, as per the latest data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

The value of these imports amounted to $61.1 million, increased by 44.16% as compared to March and up 42.7% year on year.

According to TUIK, in the first four months of 2012, Turkey's ferroalloy imports totaled 145,711 mt, increased 2.8% year-on year.

Imports from Ukraine in the period in question amounted to 57,514 metric tons, advanced by 5.3%, while imports from India in the first four months of the current year amounted to 24,454 mt, down 15.1%, both compared to the same period of 2011.

Meanwhile, China exported 17,950 mt of ferroalloys to Turkey in the first four months, up 74.8% year on year.
