Turkey ferroalloy imports up 9% to 432,549 mt in 2011

Turkish ferroalloy imports increased sharply by 8.5% to 432,549 metric tons in 2011, according to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

ANKARA (Scrap Monster): Turkish ferroalloy imports increased sharply by 8.5% to 432,549 metric tons in 2011, according to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

According to TUIK, country's ferroalloy imports advanced 8.8% to 31,187 metric tons month-over-month in December 2011 and down 37.6% year-on-year. The value of imports increased 6% to $46.3 million m-o-m in December and down 40.9% y-o-y.

Turkey imported 135,083 metric tons of ferroalloy from Ukraine in 2011, declined by 25.5% compared to previous year. It is approximately 31.2% of country's total ferroalloy imports.

Turkey's second biggest source of ferroalloy imports in 2011 was India with 59,225 metric tons, increased by 79.3% compared to 2010.
