Obama lauds Johnson Controls Saft lithium ion battery facility

President Obama traveled to Holland, Michigan on Thursday to tour the new Johnson Controls Saft lithium ion battery cell manufacturing facility. Johnson Controls Saft is a customer of HTTM LLC which is a joint venture of Trans-Matic Manufacturing Co. and Heitkamp & Thumann Battery Components

MICHIGAN (Scrap Monster): President Obama traveled to Holland, Michigan on Thursday to tour the new Johnson Controls Saft lithium ion battery cell manufacturing facility.  Johnson Controls Saft is a customer of HTTM LLC which is a joint venture of Trans-Matic Manufacturing Co. and Heitkamp & Thumann Battery Components. 

The President toured the JCS facility in support of new energy technologies and American innovation.  During the tour he stopped to examine a VL41M aluminum deep draw cell container made by HTTM which highlights Trans-Matic's deep drawing innovation within the power storage industry. 

The leaders of HTTM joined customer to greet the President and listen to his remarks.  In his speech at the JCS facility, President Obama said, 'This is one of the most advanced factories in the world. You're helping America lead in a growing new industry. You're showing us how we can come back from the worst recession that we've had in generations and start making things here in America that are sold all around the world.' 

HTTM LLC is a joint venture company between Trans-Matic Manufacturing Company and the Heitkamp & Thumann Group focusing on the development and production of cylindrical and prismatic metal battery container systems.
