China, Japan to undertake joint e-waste recycling project

China and Japan have come together for a major home appliance recycling project to be set up at Tonglu County in China.

ZHENGJIANG (Scrap Monster): China and Japan have come together for a major home appliance recycling project to be set up at Tonglu County in China.

The Sino-Japanese joint venture has been recently started and involves an investment of 120 million Yuan. The project is expected to become functional by mid next year.

The project is jointly funded by Panasonic, Sumitomo and DOWA Group in Japan and China's Hangzhou Dadi Environmental Protection Co. Ltd.

The project, covering an area of 50 acres, will be capable of recycling 500,000 to 1 million discarded home appliances per year.
