Sonoco hikes recycled paperboard prices

Sonoco, (NYSE: SON) manufacturer of consumer and industrial packaging products has decided to increase the price for all grades of uncoated recycled paperboard by $50 per ton and by 5 to 8 percent for tubes and cores

HARTSVILLE, S.C. (Scrap Monster): Sonoco, (NYSE: SON) manufacturer of consumer and industrial packaging products has decided to increase the price for all grades of uncoated recycled paperboard by $50 per ton and by 5 to 8 percent for tubes and cores, effective with shipments beginning June 6, 2011.

The company said that price changes are necessary due to higher base raw materials, chemicals, repair materials and freight costs.

Sonoco is a $4.1 billion global manufacturer of consumer and industrial packaging products and provider of packaging services, with more than 300 operations in 34 countries serving customers in some 85 nations. Sonoco is a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index.
