Aldon Auto’s History

Aldon Auto Salvage Ltd. was incorporated in 1970 by co-owners Allen & Donna Carter & Allen's brother  Ian Carter. Allen moved a  10' by 12' office on to the site and erected a 100X100 foot  fence. He purchased his first tow truck, a 1953 Ford and began purchasing cars.

The Real Roots Go Deeper.
However, Leslie Carter, Allen's uncle had been collecting derelict cars for 25 years prior to Aldon Autos incorporation. It was a real junkyard!Trails resulted as cars were parked. The vehicles were stored in no particular fashion. Parts were stored in old sheds, in the trunks of other cars or just on the ground. The inventory system was by memory only and parts interchange was by trial and error.

Allen's son, Terry joined the ownership team in 1981. The first building consisting of 4000 square feet of shop and warehouse, was built. Inventory was controlled with a cardex file. The parts locator system was a voice open line called a HOTLINE. Later the HOTLINE was replaced with a TELETYPE. Invoices were handwritten and your CHARGEX card was inserted into an imprint machine. With time, more buildings were added and inventory and parts locator systems became computerized.Aldon Auto now recycles over 1000 salvage vehicles annually. Our facility includes 29,000 sq ft of office, shop and warehouse space on 99 acres. We currently stock over 5000 cars, light trucks & SUV's both domestic and import. The business grew more successful and refined each year however many things have remained the same. Aldon Auto remains family owned and managed. We maintain the friendly, professional customer service we are known for along with our competitive pricing. We are committed to quality and customer satisfaction and to bringing our customers high-quality, low-cost alternatives for new auto parts.

Our Recycling Process

Parts vehicles are purchased from insurance auctions to provide the cleanest, lowest mileage parts available. Parts vehicles are inventoried on arrival. Licensed technicians thoroughtly test and carefully dismantle the late model salvage vehicles. We have the latest systems for fluid extraction and freon recovery. Hazardous fluids including Gasoline, engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, antifreeze and freon are drained and recycled in order to protect the environment our staff are well trained in safe environmental practices.

Environmental Stewardship

Used Oil
Burning our own waste automotive oil for heat. Waste oil heaters are designed from the ground up to burn waste oil and other petroleum based products as an alternative fuel source.

Freon Removal
A refrigerant recovery machine became necessary when it was discovered that chlorofluorcarbons (CFCs) were depleting the ozone layer. When a recovery machine is hooked up to the manifold or Schraeder valves on the air conditioning system, it creates a vacuum and sucks all the Freon out of the vehicle, cleanses it through a filter and stores it in a storage tank. When the repair to the system is complete, the machine will vacuum the system down to 30 inches of mercury to rid it of all moisture and air.

Battery Recycling
Automotive batteries contain large amounts of lead recyclable lead and in Alberta it is illegal to dispose of automotive batteries in municipal solid waste landfills.

Fluid Recycling
Automobiles are awash in fluids. Start with the gasoline or diesel fuel that powers the engine. Add the engine oil, coolant, transmission fluid, power-steering fluid, and brake fluid that keep everything running smoothly.

Tire Recycling Program
Alberta tireless commitment continues. Originally created to deal with the potential environmental threats posed by stockpiles of old tires, Alberta’s tire recycling program has grown into a thriving, innovative industry that is helping keep the province’s environment safe for generations to come.

Mercury Recycling Program
This program partnership is supported by Canadian automotive recyclers and dismantlers and their respective associations – the Automotive Recyclers of Canada (ARC) and the Canadian Association of Recycling Industries (CARI). The collaborative effort among the steel, auto and recycling/dismantling industries is unprecedented and is essential to the success of the program, which will assist the steel and auto industries to meet the new federal pollution prevention requirements regarding mercury-containing switches.
