Battery Solutions Welcomes New Vice President Of Operations

HOWELL, MICH - Battery Solutions, North America’s leader in battery collecting, sorting and recycling, is pleased to announce the addition of Donald Lynch, Ph.D.as vice president of operations.Lynch brings with him an engineering and operations background and an impressive 20-year Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement mastery. 

As vice president of operations, Lynch will be responsible forleading operations, engineering,logistics, QEHS departments, supervising the Michigan and Arizona warehouses and battery sorting operations and alkaline and nickel metal hydride recycling facility.

Prior to joining Battery Solutions, Lynch worked as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and Production System Deployment Champion for SKF Group, a multibillion dollar multinational bearing, seals, mechatronics and service organization, serving from 2004-2017. Prior to SKF, he worked for Visteon Corporation, a tier one automotive supplier, serving from 2001-2004 as a corporate Six Sigma Master Black Belt. From 1996-2001, he was first a plant manager and then corporate director of engineering and SQA and Master Black Belt at Diamond Electric Manufacturing Corporation, providing tier one engineering and quality support to DaimlerChrysler, Toyota, Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA) and Ford. Lynch began his career at Ford Motor Company in 1990 and held several positions, including divisional launch coordinator and production supervisor.

Lynch earned a doctorate in philosophy in mechanical (industrial) engineering at Colorado State University in 2001, and a postgraduate certificate in Lean Six Sigma at the University of Michigan in 2004. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University in 1994 and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 1990.

He is a guest lecturer and conference leader at the University of Michigan College of Engineering and Center for Professional Development and an adjunct faculty member at the University of Detroit Mercy. He is a fellow member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), and a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), The Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD), the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).
