DRI Output

The preliminary data published by the World Steel Association indicates that the world direct reduced iron (DRI) production in November this year has declined marginally by nearly 2.35% over the previous month. The production totaled 6.200 million metric tons (Mt), as compared with 6.349 Mt during the month prior to that.

Iran continued to be the top DRI producer with estimated output exceeding 2 Mt. However, the output remained more or less flat at 2.076 Mt as compared with the output of 2.073 Mt during the previous month. India’s output was estimated at around 2.000 Mt, down marginally from 2.053 Mt in October. The Mexican DRI output in November this year amounted to 475,000 metric tons, which is slightly lower than 490,000 metric tons output recorded during October this year. The output by other eleven countries during the month are: Canada (142), Saudi Arabia (301), Trinidad & Tobago (Nil), Argentina (146), Peru (Nil), Venezuela (50), Egypt (331), Libya (91), South Africa (88), Qatar (220) and United Arab Emirates (280).
