World crude steel production remained flat during Oct '14

BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): According to the most recent statistics published by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by 65 member countries was 136.738 million tonnes (Mt) in October this year, remaining flat upon comparison with the production during same month the previous year.

The total crude steel production by EU-28 countries during October this year was 14.897 Million tonnes (Mt), 1.5% higher than the October 2013 production of 14.678 Mt. Other European countries produced 2.921 Million tonnes of crude steel, down 9.4% when compared to 3.223 Million tonnes production achieved during October 2013. The CIS countries’ crude steel production dropped by 6.3% from 8.922 Mt to 8.360 Mt. The total crude steel production by North America was up marginally by 0.3% from 10.182 Mt in October 2013 to 10.212 Mt in October this year.

The total crude steel production by South American region during October this year increased marginally by 0.5% to 3.997 Mt. African countries produced 1.255 Million tonnes of crude steel, 10.1% down when compared to 1.396 Million tonnes production achieved during October 2013. The total crude steel production by the Middle East countries during October this year was 2.490 Million tonnes(Mt), higher by 8.4% when compared with the October 2013 output of 2.298 Mt. The Asian countries’ crude steel production too increased marginally by 0.6% from 91.563 Mt to 92.094 Mt. The total crude steel production by Oceania region surged 12% from 0.459 Mt in October 2013 to 0.514 Mt in October this year.
