Will Paper, Terracotta Rule Over Gold?

MUMBAI (Scrap Monster): The gold jewelry that gracefully adored an Indian woman is likely to become an obsolete perception in the forthcoming days. The new generation widely prefers other metal or clay jewelries to gold, foreseeing a big revolutionary trend change.

The primary reason behind the shift in attitude is the insecurity in wearing gold ornaments. The gold theft incidents in the country has surged significantly durin gthe past two years. Because of the high price value, the robbers attack women for their gold jewelries, Ms. Radhika Ranjith, a jewelry designer said.

Moreover, the new generation does not believe in traditional styles. The young generation is more attacted by contemporary and trendy designs that match the modern style of living. They like to have differences in their wearing unlike the past where everybody competed to wear hundred layered gold necklaces and arm full of bangles, Radhika added.

However, the gold ornaments still play a crucial role in marriage ceremonies in India because of its sacred significance. After the wedding ceremonies the gold ornaments usually go into bank lockers or get pawned for loans.

According to the jewelry designers, the new generation buyers are increasingly pulled towards terracotta and paper made ornaments. They always love to move around in spectacular colors rather than limiting themselves to traditional yellow shimmering.
