Waynesville lumber company named 2016 N.C Exporter of the year

RALEIGH (Scrap Monster): The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has named Oaks Unlimited Inc., as the 2016 Exporter of the Year. The Waynesville-based lumber company was selected for its excellence in exporting products around the world. Incidentally, the company exports almost three-fourths of its production to more than a dozen countries across the world.

According to Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler, the company has displayed the quality of North Carolina forestry products for more than 40 years. He handed over the award to Joe Pryor, president, Oaks Unlimited Inc., at the Ag Development Forum held recently at the State Fairgrounds.

The company produces high-quality, kiln-dried ash, cherry, hickory, poplar, red oak and white oak for both domestic and overseas markets. Headquartered at 3530 Jonathan Creek Road, Waynesville, the company is certified by the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The company is also an active member of the North Carolina Forestry Association, American Hardwood Export Council and Hardwoods Manufacturers Association.
