MUMBAI (Scrap Monster) : Waste paper collection in India has gone hi-tech with a local company announcing launch of web portal to efficiently tap the benefits of latest technologies in order to make waste paper collection more organized.

A local company based in Gujarat state- Sort India Enviro-Solutions Ltd  by launching the web portal www.pastiwala.com, intends to become the first and foremost organized waste paper collector in the country. The company focuses on both industrial and household waste collection and recycling services, collecting and recycling paper in an eco-friendly manner. The company integrates technology and uses electronic weighing scales. Customers can call to book a collection time and track the truck movements online.

Launched early this year on an experimental basis, the program involves the activities of thousands of students, common citizens and unskilled workers contributing to its success. The company plans to use 25 three-wheelers, 10 four-wheelers, 20 big trucks and other means to collect waste paper. It will have tie-ups with a chain of recycled paper makers in the country. The company will initially pay the customers Rs.13 per kg of waste paper.

In a country like India, which imports large quantities of waste paper for recycling every year, the initiative by Sort India assumes significant relevance.
