Vietnam's scrap imports bounce back in June

The scrap imports by Vietnam almost doubled during the month of June this year. The imports totaled 374,000 during the month. The imports during the first half of the current year totaled 1.43 million tons.

Vietnam's scrap imports bounce back in June

TOKYO (Scrap Monster): The most recently released trade data indicates that scrap imports by Vietnam during the month of June this year recovered sharply when compared with the previous month.

Vietnam imported 374,000 tons of scrap during June ‘15. The scrap imports by the country have almost doubled when compared with the imports during the month before. The scrap imports by the country had totaled 187,000 tons during May ‘15.

The import value generated by scrap during the sixth month of the year 2015 amounted to US$99.67 million. The ferrous scrap import value more than doubled from the previous month. The total value generated by scrap imports had touched $49.99 million during May this year.

The cumulative scrap imports by the country during the initial six months of the year totaled 1.43 million tons. The scrap imports were down by 14.8% when compared with imports during the corresponding six-month period in 2014.

The Vietnamese scrap imports are estimated to total around 2.87 million tons during the entire year 2015.
