US Weekly Raw Steel production up 1.6%

The US weekly raw steel output has increased marginally by 1.6% during the week ending April 30th, 2016.

US Weekly Raw Steel production up 1.6%

ALBANY (Scrap Monster): As per the statistics released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the raw steel production by the country was up marginally by 1.6% during the week ending April 30th, 2016. The production had dropped by 0.5% during the week prior to this.

The total domestic raw steel output during the week ending April 30th was 1,711,000 net tons. The AISI data indicates that the US raw steel production has increased marginally by 1.6% during the week. This is in comparison with the previous week (ie., the week ended Apr 23rd)  production figures of 1,684,000 net tons. Also, the weekly output represents improvement of 3.8% in comparison with production of 1,649,000 net tons during same week the previous year.

The capability utilization rate of US steel makers rose slightly to 73.2% during the week ended Apr 30th, 2016.

The capacity utilization rate has increased considerably when compared with 72.0% during the previous week (ie., the week ending April 23rd). Also, capacity utilization was higher when compared with the rate of 69.8% during same week the previous year.
