US weekly raw steel output rises on 24% jump in Western production

The weekly raw steel output by the US increased further by 1.7% during the week ended September 26th, 2015.

US weekly raw steel output rises on 24% jump in Western production

ALBANY (Scrap Monster): As per the statistics released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the raw steel production by the country increased during the week ended September 26th, 2015. The production had recorded marginal rise of 0.7% during the week prior to this.

The total domestic raw steel output during the week ending September 26th was 1,735,000 net tons. The AISI data indicates that the US raw steel production has gone higher by 1.7% during the week. This is in comparison with the previous week (ie., the week ended Sep 19th)  production figures of 1,706,000 net tons. However, the weekly output represents a sharp decline of 7.6% in comparison with production of 1,878,000 net tons during same week the previous year.

The capability utilization rate of US steel makers rose to 72.6% during the week ended Sep 26th, 2015.

The capacity utilization rate has increased marginally when compared to 71.4% during the previous week (ie., the week ending September 19th). On the other hand, capacity utilization was considerably lower when compared with the rate of 78.1% during same week the previous year.
