US weekly raw steel dropped marginally during week ending Oct 3rd

The weekly raw steel output by the US dropped marginally by 0.5% during the week ended October 3rd, 2015.

US weekly raw steel dropped marginally during week ending Oct 3rd

ALBANY (Scrap Monster): As per the statistics released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the raw steel production by the country dropped slightly during the week ended October 3rd, 2015. The production had recorded significant rise of 1.7% during the week prior to this.

The total domestic raw steel output during the week ending October 3rd was 1,727,000 net tons. The AISI data indicates that the US raw steel production has declined slightly by 0.5% during the week. This is in comparison with the previous week (ie., the week ended Sep 26th)  production figures of 1,735,000 net tons. However, the weekly output represents a sharp decline of 7.3% in comparison with production of 1,862,000 net tons during same week the previous year.

The capability utilization rate of US steel makers dropped to 72.2% during the week ended Oct 3rd, 2015.

The capacity utilization rate has witnessed marginal dip when compared to 71.6% during the previous week (ie., the week ending September 26th). On the other hand, capacity utilization was considerably lower when compared with the rate of 77.4% during same week the previous year.
