US Steel imports remain negative in August

As results of weakening performance on manufacturing sector and the overall US economy, the steel imports in the US keeps on moving down in August by 10.9% month-on-month, as per the latest statistics released by the US government.

WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster): As results of weakening performance on manufacturing sector and the overall US economy, the steel imports in the US keeps on moving down in August by 10.9% month-on-month, as per the latest statistics released by the US government.


Nevertheless, the country's steel imports surged by 16%, for the year-to-date period in 2012 compared to 2011.

Furthermore, the preliminary August steel imports were US$2.6 billion, in comparison of the preliminary July totals of US$2.7 billion.
