US Steel imports remain negative in August

WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster): As results of weakening performance on manufacturing sector and the overall US economy, the steel imports in the US keeps on moving down in August by 10.9% month-on-month, as per the latest statistics released by the US government.


Nevertheless, the country's steel imports surged by 16%, for the year-to-date period in 2012 compared to 2011.

Furthermore, the preliminary August steel imports were US$2.6 billion, in comparison of the preliminary July totals of US$2.7 billion.
