US Steel import permit applications decline in Sept: AISI

The US's steel import permit application for September amounted to 2.55 million net tons, fell by 3% from 2.638 million tons in August while increased by 3% from the August preliminary imports of 2.475 million net tons.

WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster): The US's steel import permit application for September amounted to 2.55 million net tons, fell by 3% from 2.638 million tons in August while increased by 3% from the August preliminary imports of 2.475 million net tons, as per the report of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) based on the data of Steel Import Monitoring and Analysis (SIMA) issued by the US Department of Commerce (DOC).
Among them, the import permit applications for finished steel totaled 1.947 million net tons, up by 1% from the August preliminary imports of 1.929 million tons.
In the first nine months of this year, the import permit application for steel and finished steel products amounted to 33.911 million tons and 26.27 million tons, advanced by 19% and 22% respectively.
