US Decides to Maintain the Antidumping Duties on Chinese Steel Line Pipe

WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster): American Government during Wednesday decided to maintain the countervailing, anti dumping duty orders on the circular welded carbon-quality Chinese steel pipe in spite of Beijing’s calls for US to take away the protectionism. The International Trade Commission (ITC), US concluded that they were maintaining the anti dumping duties on Chinese steel pipe as it would be likely to lead to the continuation of material injury in coming days.

In 2009, the Chinese pipe producers exported around $119 million dumped and subsidized pipe. And the US steel makers had been affected by these dumped and subsidized pipes. Followed by this, US government imposed anti dumping duties of Chinese steel pipe. The anti dumping duty margin ranges from 73.87 pct to 101.10 pct and that of countervailing duty runs from 33.43 pct to 40.05 percent. This is the first “sunset review” of the duty order since 2009.

The Chinese government had urged the US to put up with its commitment against protectionism and to work together with them and other international community members to maintain an open, free international trade environment.
