US brass mill product imports rose 13.6% in September y/y: CBFC

WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster): According to the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council (CBFC), the imports of brass mill products by the US during the month of September have improved over the previous year.

According to data, the US imports of brass mill products during September totaled 41.49 million lb, 13.6% higher when compared with 36.54 million lb imports registered during September 2012. The cumulative brass mill products import by the US during the initial nine months of the year amounted to 375.763 million lb, marginally higher by 0.3% when compared with the cumulative imports of 374.694 million lb during the same period, a year ago.

The main exporter of brass mill products to the US during September was Germany. The total imports from Germany during the month totaled 9.435 million lb. South Korea followed Germany with total exports to US amounting to 5.920 million lb. In third place was Canada. The brass mill products imports by the US from Canada totaled 4.147 million lb during the month of September.

Imports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 12.315 million lb in September. All pipe and tube products imports totaled 14.896 million lb. Imports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 11.481 million lb. Copper alloy wire imports totaled 2.8 million lb.

In accordance with the data released by the CBFC, the US exports of brass mill products totaled 17.869 million lb in September this year, 1.0% higher from the exports of 17.695 million lb during September 2012. The cumulative brass mill products export by the US during the initial nine months of the year amounted to 185.380 million lb, 1% higher from the exports of 183.565 million lb during January to September last year.
