Turkish seamless pipe imports dropped in July '14: TUIK

ANKARA (Scrap Monster): The latest import statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) indicates that the country’s seamless steel pipe imports plunged during the month of July this year.

The country imported 11,974 tons of seamless steel pipes during the month, 47.96% lower when compared with the imports during the same month a year ago.

The seamless steel pipe imports by Turkey generated total revenue of $22.48 million, 24% down when compared with July 2013.

Meanwhile, Turkey’s seamless steel pipe imports during the initial seven-month period of the year totaled 121,678 tons. The imports were marginally down by 0.1% when compared with the imports during the corresponding seven-month period in 2013.

The largest source of seamless pipe import by Turkey during January to July this year was China. The Chinese exports to Turkey constituted 57% of the country’s total imports. Turkey’s imports from China totaled 69,697 tons during this period. In second place was Ukraine with 14,641tons.
