ANKARA (Scrap Monster): The latest import statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) indicates that the country’s seamless steel pipe imports increased during the initial two-month period in 2014.
The country imported 33,100 tons of seamless steel pipes during the two-month period of the year, 13.57% higher when compared with the imports during the corresponding two-month period in 2013.
The total value of seamless steel pipe imports by Turkey amounted to $47.56 million. The value of imports has dropped by more than 2.75% over the year.
The largest source of seamless pipe import by Turkey during Jan-Feb ’14 was China. The Chinese exports to Turkey constituted 66% of the country’s total imports. Turkey’s imports from China totaled 22,000 tons during this period. In second place was Ukraine with 3,960 tons.
Meanwhile, the Chinese exports of seamless steel pipes during the two-month period from January to February this year totaled 796,887 tons, 8.9% down when compared with the exports during the corresponding two-month period in 2013.
