ANKARA (Scrap Monster): Turkey's pig iron imports rose sharply by 32% year-on-year to 936,528 metric tons in the first eight months of this year, according to the latest customs data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

The value of Turkish pig iron imports in January-August was $446.5 million, up 17.9% year-on-year.

According to the TUIK data, country's pig iron imports reached 89,360 metric tons (mt) in August this year, declined 44.1% year-on-year and down 24% month-on-month.

According to statistics, in August this year, Turkish pig iron imports fell to June level, following a month-on-month increase recorded in July.

Turkey's top pig iron source in August this year with 65,825 mt was Ukraine, increased its pig iron exports to Turkey by 20.3% year-on-year. Meanwhile, Russia's pig iron exports to Turkey in August decreased to 12,020 mt, fell by 73.2% year-on-year.
