Trevali announces shipment of zinc concentrate from Caribou mine

VANCOUVER (Scrap Monster): Trevali Mining Corporation has released an update of mine and mill commissioning at its Canadian Caribou Zinc Mine. According to the company statement, it has achieved initial production of zinc and lead concentrates. Also, initial zinc concentrates were shipped and sold during the month of July this year.

The production statistics indicate that the Caribou mill has processed approximately 52,057 tonnes as of July 31st, 2015. The year-to-date zinc concentrate production totaled 1,933 tonnes. The average zinc concentrate grade remained at 50.3% Zn. The mill also produced 491 tonnes of Lead-Silver concentrate with average lead-silver concentrate grade at 37.4% Pb, 598 g/t Ag.

The company continues to ramp up the operations at the mill in accordance with the new strategy adopted down during the month of May this year. It has made significant progress in trouble shooting the various ramp-up issues. Optimization efforts are on at the new SAG mill, the two Ball Mills and the three IsaMills. 

Underground commissioning continued to report significant progress during the month of July. Dewatering and other optimization initiatives went smoothly as per schedule, the company stated. Trevali also stated that production continues to remain at approximately 1,500 tonnes per day. 

Trevali's wholly-owned Caribou Mine and Mill Complex consists of a developed underground mine with significant resources of zinc-lead-silver-copper-gold, a fully permitted 3,000-tonne-per-day processing mill, flotation recovery plant, metallurgical and geochemical laboratories, and a tailings treatment facility, all located approximately 50-km west of Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada.
