Staples partners with ERI to boost e-waste recycling efforts

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Staples has joined hands with Electronic Recyclers International Inc. (ERI) to launch a program to boost recycling of used electronics. The program is aimed to encourage businesses to recycle larger volumes of electronic waste in a more convenient, secure and responsible manner.

According to the newly launched program for corporate customers, the businesses can recycle their old equipment through 3-step procedure. The businesses can order recycling boxes of their choice online at www.StaplesAdvantage.com. The businesses then have to fill the boxes with used electronics and ship them back to Staples with a return label, provided at the time of delivery of boxes. Staples will then provide the businesses with a Certificate of Recycling accredited by e-Stewards. Staples will ensure that the shipped electronics are cleared of data and are properly recycled.

The program intends to help companies by providing a solution to recycle vast quantities of e-waste created annually. The companies will be charged anywhere in the range between $15 and $500 for utilization of this service, depending on the size of the box ordered. Businesses have the option to select the products and services according to needs.

Staples were the first retailer to offer recycling services in their retail stores, way back in 2007. By launching the new initiative to boost recycling of obsolete electronics from businesses, Staples has once again proved that they are the industry leaders in recycling efforts.
